Stablecoin is a crypto whose face value is supposed to be USD$1 (e.g. USDT, USDC). 1U (acronym) means it's value is equivalent to USD$1.
In general, it is pegged to some reserve asset like the U.S. dollar or gold to reduce volatility related to unpegged cyrpto such as Bitcoin and altcoins.
